My Treatment Approach
I am trained in different types of psychotherapy approaches, yet the type of psychotherapy I provide will depend on your specific needs and goals. Your success in treatment is what I care about the most. With this in mind, I opt for implementing those types of therapies or interventions that have been shown to be effective through research (often referred to as “evidence-based” treatment). By doing so we maximize the probability that treatment will be successful for you.
Below you will find the different evidence-based psychotherapy approaches or interventions I can offer. Know that there are many psychotherapies that are effective but have not yet been researched enough to demonstrate their efficacy. This is partly because it is challenging to conduct research on the complexities of psychotherapy and its effects. If you are interested in learning about other approaches I utilize, feel free to contact me for more information.
- Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)**
- Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
- Gottman Method
As a client you do not need to be concerned with knowing about every type of psychotherapy approach that exists or even which you may benefit from. Informing you of and making recommendations about which approach may be most helpful for you is something that your psychotherapist can do for you.
** Dr. Samaniego Estrada completed intensive DBT training and incorporates DBT interventions, but currently does not offer a 4-part DBT Program.
