Immigration Psychological Evaluations

1571050555Navigating the immigration process is challenging.

You’ve worked hard and overcome many obstacles but still can’t quite relax. Now, you face the ground-shaking threat of having to leave this country. Your hopes and dreams are on hold until you can overcome this next hurdle.

The unknown is stressful, and it can be challenging to find the words to describe what happened to you and how it impacted you.

You know going back to your home country is not an option, but how do you explain and prove that going back is like signing a death sentence?

Fortunately, you don’t have to do this alone.

As a neutral party and an expert in psychological evaluations for immigration proceedings, I will assess your situation, empathically listen to your story, and describe what is difficult for you to identify, much less express, to the people who will make decisions about your future.

The evaluation includes a personal interview with me. During this time, we’ll discuss your situation and experiences. You’ll also complete psychological questionnaires to ensure I capture all your concerns and symptoms.

If you need an interpreter, no problem. I collaborate with professional interpreters if you don’t speak English or Spanish fluently. Then, I’ll summarize the evaluation results and send your attorney a Psychological Evaluation Report within days of the evaluation.

The basis of this summary involves our interview, psychological tests, and my professional judgment. I will work closely with your attorney to ensure that my evaluation addresses the questions immigration officers need answered to decide.

Here are the most common evaluations I offer.

Extreme Hardship Psychological Evaluations: These evaluations are essential for I-601 waiver cases, Provisional Waivers, and Cancellation of Removal cases. They help demonstrate the severe impact that deportation would have on your family members only, showing how their emotional, psychological, and financial well-being would be affected if you had to leave the U.S.

Asylum Psychological Evaluations: These evaluations support those seeking asylum due to persecution or fear of persecution in their home country. They document the psychological impact of the experiences that led you to seek asylum.

Convention Against Torture (CAT) Evaluations: This evaluation involves detailed assessments for CAT cases, focusing on the psychological effects of torture or fear of torture if you were to return to your home country.

Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Cases: I tailor these evaluations for VAWA applicants, documenting the psychological impact of domestic violence and abuse on the victim.

U-VISA and T-VISA Evaluations: For victims of crimes (U-VISA) or human trafficking (T-VISA) looking to stay in the U.S., these evaluations highlight the psychological consequences of the trauma endured.

N-648 Citizenship Test Exemption Evaluations: For those needing exemptions from the citizenship test due to medical conditions, these evaluations document the mental health reasons that prevent you from fulfilling this requirement. Examples of such mental health reasons include problems with memory, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, depression, anxiety, and other cognitive impairments.

Don’t risk going at it alone.

And don’t rely on just anyone who says they’ll write you a letter. Too much is at stake.

I bring expertise, professionalism, and empathy into my work.
